Every year I meet thousands of people through my coaching work, speaking, workshops, seminars, training sessions and talks. Generally speaking for sole traders and small business owners the key is ensuring that your heart is in your business, all that do and that your spirits are high. Meanwhile in the cases of large organisations I find that many have lost heart, that they are not cared about and / or really need to reconnect with the heart of their staff, team, employees, customers, partners and themselves.
So in today’s podcast I explore just why this is so important and how to either start to put the heart back into your business – or to remind yourself to keep working from heart. Many people see this stuff as fluffy and insubstantial. If that is the case just take a look at the level of stress, underperformance, under-performance, disputes, absenteeism, conflict, exhaustion and bad practice etc in workplaces and then ‘think’ again. Likewise look at those who never start being their own boss – or who fall away from it or who struggle to win any business. Lack of planning, preparation, funding, resources and other factors play a huge part in it but so is the ability to really make a connection with yourself, what you do and potential customers.
