I just want to invite you to pause for 10 minutes to quickly reflect, review and re-trace the last year in your business order that we can take the learning into the next.
I’m writing this post in the closing days of one year and what can easily happen is that we fail to just take that time to gently consider what’ gone well, what the challenges have been, what the learning is and what the priorities for next year should be.
In the early years of being my own boss in particular I had many a challenging year where the business wasn’t doing as well as I’d like it to have been doing – particularly financially – but in other ways too. What I didn’t stop and consider closely enough was all the learning that could be extracted and applied. And while I tend to – as a coach – be fairly good at being aware what the strengths and achievements of the business were I think taking more time to do an annual review (and then perhaps more regular ones) would have really helped me to gain clarity and focus my energies and activities more effectively.
When I did my own initial quick review a week or so ago I was amazed by how many things – including really significant wins -that I’d forgotten. That can be the way in business; that there’s so much going on that you forget to really stop, reflect, review and celebrate.
You’ll find also find a special podcasts and webinar here on the site on and around this theme to help you to revisit your year. Whether it’s been full of triumphs, trails or both there will be lots of wisdom waiting for you to uncover and apply that will help you as you move ahead.
With best wishes and wishing you all the best for the year ahead, Rasheed Ogunlaru, author Soul Trader, founder of Soul-Trader.biz
